The Minister of Information has urged responsible publishing
and well-balanced reporting among journalists to ensure access to quality
information for the public.
Neth Pheaktra highlighted the reminder when chairing a workshop on the preparation of a charter for professional journalism (CPJ) focusing on ethical procedures, principles, and operations at the ministry on April 19.
He also stressed source verification, protection, and consent for news reporting and the respect of individual privacy and dignity, including children and other vulnerable groups.
The minister also called for a collective effort among journalists and media practitioners to fight against fake news and misinformation.
The workshop aimed to collect input to lay the foundations to bring professional journalism practice in Cambodia to new heights.
